Setup verizon email for outlook 2013
Outlook is part of various MS Office packages and is still considered their strategic email platform. It is not, and never was intended to be, a place where Verizon employees help customers, although there are a few Verizon reps here who do try to help with certain problem areas, primarily areas where other customers cannot help.
And it certainly was not, and is not, intended to be a place for customers to "vent"; it was and is intended as a site where customers could ask questions and hopefully get answers from other customers. Unfortunately IMO too many customers view the site as being just for the purpose you mentioned, to vent, instead of using it for something useful. Outlook is a flagship MS program. There is no indication that will change in the foreseeable future.
With respect to "blog spaces" [? Look around a bit because, like everything else, it takes time to get the lay of the land. As Justin rightly indicated, there's much genuine "help" business taking place here.
Most users with more than a few days experience conclude that reading "vents" is not productive. If instead one concentrates on the productive efforts of users who post here to assist other users, it's easy to get utility out of the exercise. I too worked with Verizon Tech Support several weeks ago re.
Outlook and Verizon e-mail, and eventually I was told it was a Verizon problem. They had not been able to get their old POP e-mail working properly with Outlook In my case, incoming worked, but outgoing did not. Since I also had an e-mail acct with Microsoft, I told all my contacts to use that address instead and I am so glad I did.
All the e-mails and contacts automatically sync with each device. If I am away and use a public computer to delete junk e-mails, they appear gone to me, but remain on the server if I ever want to get them back. Likewise, with a new computer, I just allowed Outlook to sync with Outlook. Why Verizon never updated their e-mail to something of at least technology is amazing to me. So, just dump that Verizon e-mail address and get one like xxxxx outlook.
It's great. For some reason, Outlook works with incoming. I tried the yahoo settings and no go for me, didn't work. I take it your mother has a yahoo account or something like that.
I have 2 computers, one with Winodws 7, my other newer one with Windows 8. I get the same thing too with my gmail account that I set up in MS Outlook As others have stated, other versions of MS Outlook seem to work fine. My main pc has MS Outlook and it works great with Verizon email. It downloads it to the computer and removes it from the Verizon server. My mother has Outlook on her laptop and that also seems to work well with Verizon email.
I know your post is a couple of months old, but I was able to use a work-around to allow my Verizon email into Outlook I really like the new Outlook. Their web-based product is a little easier to use than Verizon's, and you don't have to go through a bunch of steps to get there. Once you set that up, it takes about 30 seconds to set up the outlook.
Just create a new account - when you get to the screen with radio buttons asking if the account is Exchange, outlook. On the next screen, fill out the appropriate data, and use m. Google your specific email and setup incoming email with the advanced ports. Instructions will tell you correct port.
The setup outgoing mail and again go to advanced tab for correct port. My phone, my 2 computers. Not 1 of them worked correctly. My ATT help 1 hour long never got it right. It worked perfectly. I have a similar problem in that I still have no problem receiving or sending Verizon.
And it worked well with my Outlook email app until a couple of days ago. But no more. I keep getting the instruction to update the password for my yahoo account. Keep putting it in —- it is the correct password—- but it is never accepted. Windows 10 had a large update that I installed a couple of weeks ago and it wiped out all my saved passwords.
Apple looks better all the time. Had anyone come up with a solution? Same here — started two days ago. Can see my email in any application save for my desktop Outlook.
Changed the password just in case. The same outcome — can login from anywhere save my Outlook. Any help will be appreciated. Bought a one month service plan with AOL to fix it. Many hours, over three different service calls, remoting to my computer etc etc etc could not fix. Called again tonight. They want to charge more money. They said my problems are unique. I found this site. Haha … my problems are NOT unique.
Am going to try to figure out how to get gmail to pick up the verizon e-mails. Anyone try that? With any success? I think with some of the content of the article above, I was able to conjure a solution. Previous desktop died, so I could not check the settings for Outlook.
When I installed Office with Outlook on the new computer, and opened the Outlook icon, I was then met with errors on the setup screen. I used POP pop.
I also tried IMAP. I am using Outlook and cannot seem to get Outlook to connect using these directions or two or three others on the internet thus far. Thank you for this! This worked for me — sort of.
I am using MailBird. I was able to receive messages and send messages. However, the sent messages did not show up to where they were sent.
But thank you! I can now keep trying. Hi all, hope you can help. I was also forced off Verizon and hate AOL. This explanation sounds very clear, but I am asked for a password and have NO idea what password , or what it is, nor any way to reset it. This is seriously driving me crazy.. All work great on iOS. Select your app mine is Outlook and click the Generate button. This brings up a new window with a password — mine was 4 groups of 4 alpha characters.
Highlight and copy, then enter this password in Outlook, instead of the password you use to login to AOL email in the browser. Thank you! Finally this generated password worked.
This is different than the Yahoo log-in password. Messy, but it works. In the upper right corner of what? You have to log in to the AOL web mail interface. His instructions are relating to the web mail interface. Wow, Wow, Wow. After hours of frustration and hunting down fixes online I came across this one from Derek about having the Account Security generate the new password…..
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Also I had to enter the whole email acct info including the correct email password. It stopped working 2 days ago. It cannot connect to the servers. It will not connect to the verizon. Anyone have a solution? OK, figured out a solution. You have to go to your mail.
Then select Outlook Desktop. It will generate a 16 character code. Copy that code and use it as your PW. If using IMAP, you will have to change the incoming and outgoing servers to imap. You do that by selecting manual setup and after it fails, change settings.
Use that same 16 character PW and it seems to work. Did for me anyway. Hope that helps. I have also been using Outlook with my verizon. My Outlook stopped receiving email early on July 12, but my aol account was still receiving email.
Somehow I managed to hit the right sequence of events to get my email working again. If this method also fails, then the account must be configured manually. Note To complete these steps, you will need to know your email address, password, incoming mail server name, and outgoing mail server name that is provided by your Internet Service Provider ISP.
To configure the Internet email account manually, follow these steps in the Add New Account dialog box:. In the Email Address box, type your full email address.
Under Server Information , click the kind of email account that you have in the Account Type box. In the Incoming mail server box, type the name of the server in lowercase letters. The name may be in the form of "mail. In the Outgoing mail server SMTP box, type the name of the outgoing email server in lowercase letters. In the User Name box, type your user name.
The user name is usually the part of your email address to the left of the symbol. Some ISPs require the full email address.
Therefore, please contact your ISP if this is needed. If you want Outlook to remember your email account password, click to select the Remember password check box.
Select Test Account Settings. When you select Test Account Settings , the following process occurs:. If the POP3 server must be logged on to first, Outlook automatically sets the Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail option. A test message is sent. This message explains any changes that Outlook made to the initial setup. If you want to change your email account, click More Settings to open the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
The Advanced tab in the Internet Email Settings dialog box lets you set the POP3 and the SMTP server ports, define whether the server requires an encrypted channel, and define server time-out settings and delivery settings.
