Swap game directions

Play begins with the player on the left side of the dealer. A player can only play one card on their turn. If a player is unable to play a card, they must draw one card from the draw pile. If it is playable, it must be played immediately. If not, the card remains in their hand. This ends their turn. Players can keep swapping until someone decides to stand pat, or there are no other eligible people to steal from.

Here are some rules tweaks many people use:. If you get stolen from three times during the game, you are out of the game and can no longer be stolen from. Three Swaps and the Gift is Out. Or, if they do, the first person simply gets to swap once with no additional swapping allowed. Instead of following the same set of rules each turn, players follow instructions given to them through a Christmas-themed poem or story. Gift Themes. This is your discard pile. If the card flipped over is a SWAP! PLAY: The player to the left of the dealer begins the game, and play continues clockwise. The person that they swap with goes next and draws the next card. Continue until all the cards are gone. Pretty simple. And there are definitely way less fights and stealing playing this way. But there is still a little wiggle room because if you have the card to swap with someone wearing red, you get to pick which person to go with.
