Vaio cd drive driver

And my experience with tech support has been abysmal, particularly after Sony sold off their Vaio book of business. Very disappointed in Sony all around now. If you have other suggestions or advice in how to resolve the matter without buying another drive when I've barely used this one, I'd appreciate it. And what would I expect the cost to be if I were to go that route?

How about the cable that you purchased, is this a universal cable? We can't tell yet what is the cause of this issue. We need to do some diagnosis to figure it out.
