Also, upon further experimentation, when I use Simplified Arabic Fixed, it's only the lower case that gets the top third cut off. When I switch to Miriam Fixed from other fonts, nothing seems to happen.

It just reverts back to the previous font. Hi I have done some investigation and it seems that this is a general issue for many people. However after further investigation the issue, for some strange reason, only applies to certain font sizes.

The problem font sizes are as follows: Simplified Arabic: 8, 10, 11 Miriam Fixed: 10, 11 All other font sizes seem to display correctly.
