Anesthesia Length of Rotation: 2 Weeks Location: Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Objectives : Anesthesia Rotation will provide residents with some of the experiences listed below: preoperative evaluation assessment of the effects of pharmacological agents venipuncture technique and administration of intravenous agents patient monitoring airway management anesthetic induction and intubation administration of anesthetic agents prevention and treatment of anesthetic emergencies assessment of patient recovery from anesthesia Emergency Medicine Length of Rotation: 2 weeks Location: Harbor UCLA Medical Center Objectives : Resident will become familiar with management of acute trauma or other medical and surgical emergencies.
To experience the daily operations of an emergency room. To learn how to obtain history and physical examinations on acutely ill patients. To learn to immediately generate differential diagnoses when presented with patients exhibiting signs and symptoms of acute illnesses and injuries.
To learn to accurately interpret diagnostic tests including radiographs, EKGs and blood panels. To observe and participate in cardiac and trauma resuscitation efforts when possible.
To integrate knowledge and experience of emergency medicine with management of emergencies in the practice of general dentistry. The GPR program performs comprehensive care on a daily basis in a two-operatory clinic to serve the center's inpatient residents. This facility is home to the Center for Orofacial Pain, which offers multidisciplinary management of head and neck pain related to temporomandibular disorders, orofacial pain and sleep disorders.
While rotating here, GPR residents work in concert with OMFS residents and faculty to provide hour emergency coverage for all oral and maxillofacial emergencies, including trauma.

Operating Room Dentistry: This is an opportunity to perform comprehensive general dentistry in the operating room setting for patients with special needs who cannot be seen in an outpatient setting. UCSF Parnassus Campus 2 months : Here you will be working alongside a team of oral surgery residents, dental students, attending faculty, and staff in an oral surgery clinic treating a wide variety of patients. Auxiliary Rotations Oral Medicine Rotation 2 weeks : Here you will learn to evaluate and perform soft tissue biopsies using different methods alongside oral medicine residents and faculty at UCSF Parnassus.
Applicants with an interest in hospital-based dentistry whose goals are aligned with the program curriculum are strongly considered. Interviews during the admissions season will be conducted remotely. Invitations will be sent directly by the program. The stipend is subject to annual review.
